Full-length albums are a lot of work.

Hope you all are surviving your finals, and for those who don’t have them, I hope you are enjoying your lives per usual.
We decided to set some goals to help us get our first full-length album underway and it’s proving to be a longer process than we desired. It’s not that we aren’t dedicated or aren’t working hard, it’s the time constraints and the perfectionist in all of us that is preventing our work from being completed.
Between 3 of the 5 members being in college (2 finishing this weekend, YAY!) and 1 in an intense nursing program, you know time doesn’t just fall into your lap. And on top of that, it’s finals week, and everyone knows that’s the most awful time of the year (mac n’ cheese/ramen, little to no sleep, coffee/energy drink binges, library stench, etc…). It’s not pretty.
As if that weren’t enough, the other two members working their behinds off in ‘real life’ land as adults, one in MI but the other in Texas (me).
This balancing act has pushed back our goals and caused us to re-evaluate our timeline, but hasn’t deterred us from putting out the best album that we can.
We want that Alco 2.0 sound; to show how much we’ve grown as people and musicians. This balance of our “work” path vs. “music” path has proven difficult and as graduation looms for 2 more members, the “pressure” of finding jobs and putting the degree to use has never been more heavy. This summer, however, we have pushed aside opportunities and gotten inspired to push ourselves to do lots of shows, push out this CD and really give it our all.
Our first song off our album will be released this week. It’s a re-vamped version of our old song, Amensia which had thousands of plays on MySpace. We feel like this song has improved 10-fold and we are so excited to share it with you all. Stay tuned, good things are happening.
